Prophet Adam
Adam, the very first human
Prophet Adam (peace be upon him) was the very first human Allah created — and the first prophet too. Every single person who has ever lived, all around the whole world, is one of his children. His gentle story is where the story of every family begins. It shows us how Allah made us, why we are here, how to choose what is good, and — most beautiful of all — exactly what to do when we slip and make a mistake.
Allah creates Adam
Allah created Adam with His own care and shaped him in the most beautiful way. Before Adam was made, Allah told the angels that He was placing on the earth a khalifah — someone who would live there and look after it. The angels gently wondered how this would be, and Allah taught them that He knew what they did not know. Then Allah gave Adam life, and He honoured Adam by commanding the angels to bow to him. Adam became the father of all people — a great and precious beginning made by our loving Creator.
The names of everything
Allah taught Adam the names of all things — every animal, every plant, every star, and everything around him. Then Allah gently asked the angels to name these things, but they could not, and they said with humility that they only knew what Allah had taught them. When Adam named them all, clearly and correctly, everyone could see the special knowledge Allah had placed in him. Learning was Adam's gift from his very first day. And Allah gives us that same beautiful gift every time we study, listen carefully, ask good questions, and pay attention to His wonderful world.
Wa 'allama Aadamal asmaaa'a kullahaa summa 'aradahum 'alal malaaa'ikati faqaala ambi'oonee bias maaa'i haaa'ulaaa'i in kuntum saadiqeen"And He taught Adam the names — all of them." Allah gave Adam knowledge of everything, a special honour from his Lord.
Say it: Read it slowly with your child: Allah taught Adam the names of everything. Ask your child to name three things they learned today — learning is a gift, just like Adam's.
A garden, one rule, and a whisper
Allah let Adam and his wife Hawwa (Eve) live happily together in a beautiful garden, full of good things to enjoy, with only one gentle rule: do not eat from one special tree. But Shaytan, who is the enemy of people, did not want them to stay happy. He whispered to them again and again, telling them tricky words, until at last they forgot the rule and ate from the tree. As soon as they did, they felt sorry deep inside their hearts. This teaches us that everyone slips sometimes — even the very best of people — and that Shaytan is always trying to make us forget what Allah said.
Saying sorry to Allah
Adam did not stay sad, and he did not give up or make excuses. Instead, he turned straight to Allah and asked to be forgiven, using gentle, humble words that Allah Himself taught him. And Allah — who loves to forgive more than anyone — accepted his repentance and guided him with mercy. This is Adam's greatest lesson of all: when we do something wrong, we do not run away or blame others. We turn back to Allah, say sorry honestly from the heart, and try again to do better. That beautiful door of forgiveness is always, always open, and Allah is so happy when we walk through it.
Fatalaqqaaa Aadamu mir Rabbihee Kalimaatin fataaba 'alayh; innahoo Huwat Tawwaabur Raheem"Then Adam received from his Lord [some] words, and He accepted his repentance." Allah is the One who always accepts those who turn back to Him.
Say it: This is the ayah of saying sorry. When your child makes a mistake, remind them softly: Adam said sorry to Allah and Allah forgave him — we can too.
