Surah Al-Ikhlas
Let's memorize Surah Al-Ikhlas
Al-Ikhlas is only four short lines, and it teaches one of the most important ideas in Islam: Allah is One, with no partner and nothing like Him. Because it is so short, this is a wonderful surah to memorize completely today.
قُلْ هُوَ ٱللَّهُ أَحَدٌ
Qul huwal laahu ahadSay, "He is Allah, the One."
Say it: Four gentle steps: Qul (say) — huwa Allahu (He is Allah) — ahad (the One, alone). Let your child repeat each step.
ٱللَّهُ ٱلصَّمَدُ
Allah hus-samadAllah, the Eternal Refuge that everyone depends on.
Say it: Two steps: Allahu (Allah) — as-samad (the One everyone turns to, who needs no one).
لَمْ يَلِدْ وَلَمْ يُولَدْ
Lam yalid wa lam yooladHe does not have children, and He was not born.
Say it: Three steps: lam yalid (He has no children) — wa lam yulad (and He was not born) — Allah has always existed.
وَلَمْ يَكُن لَّهُۥ كُفُوًا أَحَدٌۢ
Wa lam yakul-lahu kufuwan ahadAnd there is nothing equal or similar to Him.
Say it: Read it slowly: wa lam yakun lahu (and there is not for Him) — kufuwan ahad (any equal). Nothing is like Allah.
أَحَد
ahad
