Surah Al-Falaq
Let's learn Surah Al-Falaq together
Al-Falaq comes right before An-Nas in the Quran. "Al-Falaq" means the daybreak — the moment light breaks through the dark. In its five short ayat we ask Allah, the Lord of daybreak, to keep us safe from every kind of harm. Let's say the whole surah together, one ayah at a time.
قُلْ أَعُوذُ بِرَبِّ ٱلْفَلَقِ
Qul a'udhu bi-rabbi l-falaqSay, "I seek refuge in the Lord of daybreak."
Say it: Read it in four gentle steps: Qul (say) — a-'oo-thu (I seek refuge) — bi-rab-bi (in the Lord) — al-fa-laq (of the daybreak). It shares its first three words with An-Nas from Lesson 1 — point that out to your child!
مِن شَرِّ مَا خَلَقَ
Min sharri ma khalaqFrom the evil of that which He created
Say it: Say it in gentle steps: Min sharri — ma khalaq. Let your child repeat each step after you.
وَمِن شَرِّ غَاسِقٍ إِذَا وَقَبَ
Wa min sharri ghasiqin iza waqabAnd from the evil of darkness when it settles
Say it: Say it in gentle steps: Wa min — sharri ghasiqin — iza waqab. Let your child repeat each step after you.
وَمِن شَرِّ ٱلنَّفَّٰثَٰتِ فِى ٱلْعُقَدِ

وَمِن شَرِّ حَاسِدٍ إِذَا حَسَدَ
Wa min shar ri haasidin iza hasadAnd from the evil of an envier when he envies."
