Prophet Hud

Hud calls his people to Allah

The people of 'Aad were strong and skilled — they built tall buildings and were proud of their strength. Allah sent them a prophet from among themselves named Hud. Hud stood up and said the same simple, important message every prophet brought: "O my people, worship Allah — you have no god other than Him." He reminded them that Allah had given them everything good they had, and asked them to be thankful instead of proud. Most of the people refused to listen and mocked him, but Hud kept calling them gently and patiently, never asking for anything in return. Hud's story reminds us that being strong or having a lot doesn't matter as much as remembering Who gave it to us.

Hud · 11:50

وَإِلَىٰ عَادٍ أَخَاهُمْ هُودًا ۚ قَالَ يَا قَوْمِ اعْبُدُوا اللَّهَ مَا لَكُم مِّنْ إِلَٰهٍ غَيْرُهُ

Wa ila 'Adin akhahum Hudan; qala ya qawmi u'budu Llaha ma lakum min ilahin ghayruh

"And to 'Aad [We sent] their brother Hud. He said, 'O my people, worship Allah; you have no deity other than Him.'"

Say it: Read it in three gentle steps: Wa ila 'Adin akhahum Hudan (to 'Aad, their brother Hud) — qala ya qawmi (he said, O my people) — u'budu Llaha ma lakum min ilahin ghayruh (worship Allah, you have no god but Him). Let your child echo each step.
