Thaa, Jeem, Haa (ث ج ح)

Three more letters, two more shape families

Thaa, Jeem, and Haa share one more base shape family. Thaa keeps the same curved base as Baa and Taa but adds three dots on top. Jeem and Haa share a different, rounder 'boat' shape: Jeem has one dot underneath, Haa has no dot at all. Point to the dots each time so your child learns to look for them, not just guess.

ث

thaa (th)

Sounds like the soft 'th' in "think".

Say it: Thaa has 3 dots on top — same base shape as Baa/Taa but 3 dots up high. Say "th" as in "think".

ج

jeem (j)

Sounds like the 'j' in "jam".

Say it: Jeem has a dot underneath a curved, boat-like base. Say "j" as in "jam".

ح

haa (H)

A breathy 'h', stronger than the English 'h', made deep in the throat.

Say it: Haa looks like Jeem's boat shape but with no dot at all. Whisper an exaggerated "h", as if fogging a mirror, from the throat.
